Just a suggestion. Would it be wise to wait for the upcoming Minecraft patch that introduces the jungle biome and some new animlas plus all kinds of other new things before you release the new map?

No, because we'd have to wait for the recommended build of bukkit to come out as well, which means about 3 weeks.

The general layout is finished. I'm currently adding in riverside coastal variation, beaches, and terrain features, which is the bulk of the necessary editing. I would hope I could have it done this week but we will see. I don't want to put out a mediocre map, or rush it like I did last time. It's a very time consuming process, and I'm juggling a 9-5 as well as school right now. I will keep you updated on my progress if you want.

My current plan is to have the center of the map PvP free, to allow for the creative among us to build without constant harrassment.

PvP will be enabled in the northern and southern regions of the river. Terrain in these areas will have more outlets and paths to allow for actual pvp, rather than bottleneck slaughter. Winding mountain paths, high altitude forests and canyons will branch off of the river in these areas. I would like to increase resource density in these areas, which brings me to my next point..

I've been talking to the creator of the map editor I use, and he is in the process of adding in a ore brush. This would allow me great power over where/what/how many ores I want in any given area. He expects this to be finished "within a couple of weeks"... I could do many great things with this ability. However, I know you guys don't want to wait that long.

So... when the terrain is done, I can do a standard minecraft ore layer. I don't want to keep you guys hanging foreva. I may release the map with normal ore gen, let you guys get started, and then rerelease when the ore brush is released. I'm not sure yet though.. any thoughts?

The ore brush idea sounds cool I am up for waiting until you are able to use the brush on the new map before it is released.

I personally wouldn't think the NoN-PvP area would need to be all that big but I don't plan on using it for building anything as I am not creative! LOL!

I think your maps are awesome. I think you have just enough plug ins to make the server very fun. I also think you should do like you said and take your time until it is released exactly how you want it to be.

There are a lot of people waiting to play me included let us wait. Especially for the donating members after having to start clean I'm sure they will appreciate you releasing PERFECTION instead of 95% complete.

Keep up the great work Sub we all support your decision. "IF you build it THEY will come" Smile

    That might be a while.

All maps should be considered temporary anyways, you never know when they're going to take a dump.

About a 1500x1500 area essentially in the center of the map. It is 6000x6000 again.

    Dude that's huge!

    That's WAY too big!

How will you resolve territory disputes?

I've added Citizens so that guards will attack mobs and people who PVP near spawn, which makes it interesting.

Can you explain your thought process behind this?

Don't add a non-PVP region... people will just jump between the pvp and non-PVP areas, building TNT canons to shoot at others, and all around abuuuuuuuuuuuse! I think pretty buildings should be a rare occurance on the server, so that they're actually a bragging right. I mean, it's something for towns and nations to work for. afro

Yeah, a non-pvp zone will sort of defeat the purpose for PvP

Newby ganking wasn't that big of a problem to be honest, although it WAS a problem, something that we can fix easily without handholding.

Pig, I can't get behind this decision at all, it must be changed.

Half PVP half creative servers -never- work.

The fact that we kill noobs is an easy fix. Just give them decent start-up shit (iron chest, iron sword, some food?), and let towns recruit. I mean, it's only scaring away noobs who don't like pvping, and we don't want them anyway.

As someone who spends an ungodly amount of time on here, I just want to say that the BIGGEST reason newbies leave is because NO ONE trusts them to join into their town.

Every single successful town is made up of people who know each other in real life.

I took in newbies into my town all the time even though they always ended up stealing shit and making their own town with each other (friends of theirs irl i might add)

I have never met or spoken to sherv, komalsongfury, or anyone else who was in my town but we still kicked ass.

Hell even tea party was made up of a few friends and ALOT of alternate accounts...

Newbies need to be given something thats valuable to a town instead of being simply a risk with little to no reward.

I believe I speak for us all when I say the islands should be more "dong" shape.

I mean who is really going to take us seriously if we don't even have a penis shaped island(s)?

The river, as well as most highland regions of the map just so happen to be bordered by towering walls. There will be areas large enough to where you will basically feel like you're in a forest, or swamp, or desert, etc etc. The finished thing will be quite an experience, trust me.

Also, wonderful news! We may have an ore brush, I quote, within "a couple of days" Very Happy!

Oh, I wasn't complaining. Afghanistan is like BUILT for war. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

Whats the theme gonna be this time around? Since obviously "SAILING THE HIGH SEAS BLARGH" wont really apply?

I was thinking something roadside-bomb-y like "Watch your step Muhammad, because one wrong step can really ruin your day"
    You know terrorist shit.

I could see shit like hidden bomb traps and shit like that being popular on this new map

The map is approaching completion. I'm mainly waiting on the ore brush to be released.

    Only a little more waiting..

Please make ore veins like the our old custom map, in large clusters but just less clusters, I hate default minecraft ore distribution methods, it makes no sense.
